Do I need an electrician to replace smoke alarms?

You will always need a licensed electrician to replace your smoke alarms as most alarms are connected to the main power of the property. As smoke alarms are a safety device, they need to be wired properly in accordance with regulations. Although it may seem easy to do yourself, it’s much better to be confident your smoke alarms are installed properly, and will trigger in the event of a fire or other emergency.

Who can install smoke alarms in Queensland?

By law, only licensed electricians can install smoke alarms in Queensland. This is to ensure all installation is in accordance with legal standards and that safety is a priority!
